About the LINK

The Hunterdon County LINK Transportation System provides transportation services to ALL residents of Hunterdon County, NJ. Funding for operation of the LINK is provided by the Hunterdon County Board of Chosen Freeholders, NJ TRANSIT and the Federal Transit Administration.

The Hunterdon County LINK Transportation System is comprised of a variety of services including “scheduled route” services, “demand response” services, and customized transportation services and assistance.

Service Days

The following is a list of NO SERVICE DAYS/HOLIDAY SCHEDULE

  • Memorial Day

  • Veteran’s Day
  • Thanksgiving &
  • Friday after Thanksgiving
  • Christmas Day

Passengers should plan accordingly in advance of “No Service” days.

Schedule changes for holidays will be announced in the Hunterdon County Democrat newspaper, on the www.ridethelink.com and LINK Facebook page.

Schedule Changes, Delayed Openings, Closures and Inclement Weather

Published schedules are subject to change. Pick up and drop off times may be subject to delays based upon traffic, weather, loading times and other circumstances beyond the LINK’s control.

LINK does not assume responsibility for inconvenience, expense or damage resulting from errors in timetables, delayed buses, failure to make transfers, or for shortage of equipment

Delayed Openings, Closures and Inclement Weather Announcements:

Buses may be delayed due to traffic, weather, loading times and other circumstances beyond the LINK’s control.  To check the status of a delayed bus during weekday hours call 1-800- 842-0531(Monday-Friday, 8:30am — 4:30pm). After 4:30pm and on Saturdays, call Hunterdon Helpline, 1-800-272-4630. 

Delayed Opening and service cancellations due to inclement weather will be announced as follows:

To ensure the safety of passengers and drivers, the LINK will monitor weather and road conditions to determine the level of service throughout the service day. Service may be modified or pickups rescheduled, with advanced notice, as a result.

LINK is not responsible for passenger refusal to accept modified service on inclement weather days.

Passenger Conduct | Bags Aboard Vehicles | Children and Car Seats | Route Deviation


Passenger Conduct

  The Driver is responsible for ensuring the safety of all passengers.

  • Foul language and/or behavior that is disruptive to the driver or other passengers will not be tolerated.
  • Anyone appearing to be under the influence of alcohol or controlled dangerous substances will not be transported.
  • Smoking is not permitted aboard vehicles.
  • No drinking, eating or littering.
  • Footwear and shirts are required.
  • Seat belts should be worn at all times.
  • Tipping of drivers is not permitted.
  • Speak softly when using cell phones.
  • Use ear phones when listening to audio equipment.

Passengers who are unable to observe these courtesies are subject to immediate removal from the vehicle and/or loss of future service.

www.ridethelink.comBags Aboard Vehicles

Grocery/shopping bags are limited to 5 per person.

Luggage is limited to one carry on item (not to exceed 22”) and one personal item, such as a purse or backpack.

Passengers are asked to be mindful of others when handling bags on the bus. Bags should be stowed at passenger’s feet and should remain in passenger’s possession at all time.

LINK is not responsible for bags left behind.

www.ridethelink.comChildren and Car Seats

Children are welcome on board LINK buses.

Children under the age of 8 years must be accompanied by an adult.   Car seats are not required for children to ride on the buses.  Passengers who wish to bring a car seat/booster seat may do so.  However, car seats may not be left on the bus.  

All buses are equipped with seatbelts.

Route Deviation

Route deviation service is available where conditions allow.  Passengers must call Central Dispatch, 1-800-842-0531 by 12 noon the weekday before requested transportation by calling to discuss route deviation needs.  Monday requests must be made by 12 noon Friday.

Drivers are not permitted to accept or approve deviation requests.

Drivers are not permitted to make unscheduled route changes
